Orrin R. Onken - Elder Law Attorney
I am an elder law lawyer who represents Oregonians facing legal problems related to aging and death. Most of my practice involves appearing in Oregon's probate courts. I use the probate courts to establish guardianships and conservatorships for elders suffering from dementia. I help families administer trusts and estates after the death of a parent. I challenge wills and defend wills that are being challenged. I file cases against misbehaving trustees, and bring or defend cases brought under Oregon's financial elder abuse statutes.
When not in court, I use my probate experience to write practical plain-English wills and trusts. I meet with families to help them understand Medicaid and develop strategies to pay for long term care. I establish trusts that protect public benefits for the disabled, and advise families about safe methods for for managing the financial affairs of a disabled elder.
